Favorite Verses:

Ephesians 1:3-4; 7-8
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. . . In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight .

Romans 8:32
He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?

Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern that is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Ministry Goals:
My goals in ministry are to glorify God by enjoying Him forever and to encourage others to do the same; to build up fellow believers by teaching the whole counsel of God; to lovingly serve the body of Christ with Him as my model; and to extol the wonders of God's grace to those inside and outside the church.

Favorite Verses:

Philippians 3:10-11
I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death.

John 10:10
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Ministry Goals:
It is my burning passion and desire to love God with all my heart (Deut. 6:15), to know Christ intimately (Phil. 3:10), and to teach and train others to do likewise (2Tim. 2:2). It is also a great concern of mine that we who name the Name of Christ understand and become fully engaged in the epic battle we are in! And so, it is my desire to fight for the hearts of men, women and children, through the power of the Holy Spirit who indwells me, and encourage others to also fight, ever seeking Christ and the abundant life He came to give us, which was God's intention for mankind from the beginning (John 10:10).

I was born and raised in the Portland area. I have a wonderful wife, four terrific children, 2 great son-in-laws and one lovely daughter-in-law. I have attended Powellhurst Baptist Church for the past 17 years and been involved with numerous ministries from teaching children and HomeBuilders to working in Men's Ministry.

Favorite Verses:

Hebrews 12:1-4
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.

John 3:30
He must become greater; I must become less.

Ministry Goals:
My ministry goals are to become a more complete minister of the gospel by way of preaching, teaching, and sharing my faith. I desire to be evangelistic wherever the Lord places me... even outside the church. Though I have known Jesus for over fifteen years, this is by far the most exciting season of my faith as I have a chance to serve His body in this way. I would like to see our church become "salt and light" to the southeast Portland area, as I believe we are already making strides to do. I believe my current role is to be an encouragement to the other elders and to help facilitate communication between the elders and the church body.

I was born in Edmonds, Washington, but lived in nearby Lynnwood until I was four. I moved to Mt. Vernon on my fourth birthday and spent most of my childhood there. I came to Portland in August of 1999 to go to school. In November of that year, I began coming to Powellhurst. I met and married my lovely wife Jenn in 2003, and we have been living in southeast Portland since May of 2004. . You can often find us playing Rook or Cribbage together while listening to music. I also work as a Resident Counselor for Son Village, a boy's home near Mt. Hood.

Education:
My education began at Viewcrest Christian High School, where I graduated in 1994 as Valedictorian. I also graduated with a two-year general education degree from Skagit Valley College in 1995. I then proceeded to Lutheran Bible Institute in Issaquah, Washington, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies, with honors, in 1998. After a year off, I came to Portland to study at Western Seminary in 1999. Much sweat and four years later, I received a Master of Divinity with an emphasis in Pastoral Care in April of 2003.
