BIBLE STUDY OPPORTUNITIES

We want to encourage our women to be involved in Bible study. The study of God's Word will strengthen our walk with God and our fellowship with one another. There are women's Bible studies sponsored by our church as well as community Bible studies that offer opportunities for new friendships and personal growth. Questions? Contact Doris Brackett.

Thursday Evening Women's Bible Study

The Thursday evening group meets at Vicky May's home, 7-9 p.m. No childcare is provided. Contact person: Doris Brackett.

Bible Study Fellowship (BSF)

Bible Study Fellowship is an interdenominational Christian organization with Bible study groups around the world. They offer an intensive Bible study program that takes you through the entire bible over the course of seven years. Two women's groups meet in the east Portland area:

• Monday evenings at Crossroads Church of Christ. Time: 6:55 p.m.
• Wednesday mornings at Montavilla Baptist Church. Time: 9 a.m.

1Weigh Bible Study

1Weigh is a Bible study, support, and accountability group for women wanting to lose weight. The group is open to Powellhurst women and others in the community. We meet at the church on Tuesday evenings, 6:45 to 8 p.m. (we don't weigh in). Join at any time! We're a friendly, supportive group. No childcare. SPECIAL EVENTS

CBNW Women's Camp at Tadmor (held the third weekend of each July), our own annual Women's Retreat, the "HAP" (Halloween Alternative Party), plus special women's conferences in our area, are events we eagerly anticipate. Through these activities, our goal is to provide opportunities for spiritual growth so that we might become godly women who actively care for one another and communicate Christ to our world. OPEN DOOR MINISTRY

This is a new branch of Women's Ministry at Powellhurst. The goal is to reach women of all ages by extending the "right hand of fellowship" to our community as well as to those in our own church body. Open Door Ministry's Women's Project Night is an invitation to women of other churches, in our community, and at Powellhurst to come together and enjoy fellowship while working on "UFOs" (UnFinished prOjects). We hope to help fulfill the need for meaningful friendships in a safe and welcoming environment. Open Door Ministry is also addressing the growing need for information about available resources for those in need in our local Southeast Portland area. Questions? Contact Christy Buzza.

ENCOURAGING WORDS

Our bimonthly newsletter, Encouraging Words, provides our women with a medium for edifying and encouraging one another. Personal testimonies, inspirational stories and poetry, Christian book reviews, favorite recipes, humor, helpful advice/practical tips-even classified ads-are all welcome submissions for the newsletter. FELLOWSHIP

Throughout the year, three to four social events are planned for the purpose of fun, fellowship, and opportunity for outreach. Previous social events have included our Springtime High Teas, Mom's Day Out, and special Christmas gatherings, including trips to holiday craft shows and specialty shops. Help is always needed with the planning, publicity, decorations, food, etc., for these events. If this interests you, please contact someone on the Women's Ministry Team.
